The Party Branch of the Institute for Translational Medicine: Visiting the PLA Naval Museum

On May 15, 2019, the Party Branch of the Institute for Translational Medicine visited the PLA Naval Museum. The PLA Naval Museum occupies an area of 141 Mu on land and 212 mu on sea. Established in November 1988 and officially opened to the public on October 1, 1989, it is the only large-scale professional military museum built by the PLA Navy in China. The Navy Museum focuses on the inheritance of the red gene, keeping in mind its original mission, strengthening historical memory, giving full play to its educational function, and striving to build a leading and world-class navy museum in China.

The exhibition of land equipment covers an area of more than 13,000 square meters. It displays  small surface ships, naval aviation equipment, naval land warfare equipment, and naval coastal defense equipment that have been in service since the founding of the people’s navy. The exhibition of maritime ships covers an area of more than 40,000 square meters, including three docks and six berths. On display are the Yangtze River ship (side No. 53-219), on which Chairman Chen Mao sailed; Anshan, the first Chinese destroyer (side No. 101); Jinan, the first domestic destroyer (side No. 105); Yingtan, the first domestic air defense frigate (side No. 531), which was operational in the Nansha Sea War; Long March No. 1, the first nuclear submarine (side No. 401); Great Wall No. 200, the first test submarine (side No. 200); and other meritorious landmark ships.

During the visit, we saw the development of the people’s navy under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, which has been characterized by hardship, growth through battles, advancing by twists and turns, and constantly moving forward. The vast sea and sky have witnessed the magnificent voyage of the people’s navy. Heroic sailors continue to guard the coastal defense line. Warships are plunging through choppy waves. We love our motherland and the blue ocean!
